...why does this country always piss down if I take a break for a week in it...looking at Mylor/Falmouth from the Met it looks rubbish through to Sunday...We go tomorrow and it looks thoroughly depressing..

I'm so glad you've got the crap weather bad luck, I was so afraid that we'd continue to have it for the 3rd year running and make it a crap holiday-hat-trick.

Sorry mate, we've faithfully carried the burden for two years, gales, rain etc throughout both 2-week annual holidays, it has to be someone else's turn this year.

Seriously, law of averages means SOMEONE has to be on holiday during a bad weather period, I hope yours is not as bad as the forecast.

The knack is to go anyway. The Beauty of a boat is that you can chase the Sun! Was camping out of Mercury last year and when it rained on the mainland..we jumped in the boat and chased the sun over to Newtown Creek. We actually managed 2 good days out of 3 on the boat even though everyone at Mercury was miserable!

Of course the Camping was such a disaster that I had to move to a warmer place...permanently! SWMBO was not amused by the whole experience but is starting to forgive me since it is regularly 90 degrees down here...

Cheers

See you should have come to Drtmouth after all! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
The far West does seems to have drawn the short straw.

I Know what you mean I have Wed to Fri off next week and the forecast for Cardiff is ....... you got it rain. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Just looking at moving weather and right now I can see us giving up and coming back. I mean what is the point of sitting in an apartment and looking at your boat in rain, wind and spending money eating there when we could be in the middle of the country enjoying better weather, it's just typical of this bloody country. Really pissed off now.

Sunday and Monday look like wipe outs. I can't tell whether Tuesday/Wednesday look better, they appear to...gah...

Well I also have the following week off aswell and guess what .... more rain. It is always the best weather when I am in the office up in the cotwolds.

Hope they have got it wrong.

DONT PANIC!

I know that the slightest sign of any rain in a forecast now has us thinking of the last two summers... but that is NOT the weather you are going to have over the next week.... I have looked at all of the forecasts and it would appear that at worst we will have some showers... but in fact up until Wednesday there will be no more than about 25% cloud cover at most... so you may get some showers.. some even heavy... but you will get a lot more sun... some forecasts are showing that in fact this will be a very nice weekend with only a very occasional shower...

LookHere!

Your going to have a great time!

Thanks Photo! Always good to get a nice positive one. Please do pop by for a drink:) We intend to just enjoy and chill and me forget about my business for just a week.. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

At least the weather is taking your mind off work worries, just to try a positive spin!
From my limited experience of UK weather, it does appear fairly changeable, but currently capable of being very warm and pleasant.
Don't forget all that daylight.

On the crappy days, jump in the car and take the family out for a run, to add some distraction, and explore the area.
Perfect sunshine is nice, but so is family time away from work!

Yeah, you are right. As it happens our son has a friend going down to St Anthony, from this Saturday, which is great, they are new friends of ours too so we'll probably socialise with them a bit too. Just that the boat is there for a reason that's all /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Have you got a bit of fishing gear? The young guys love it, ask some of the local salts on the pier for what to use as bait or lures, they are usually full of useful info.
If they manage to catch some, go and buy a cheap ten pound gas cooker and a pan from Tesco's, bread and butter, and cook up the fish fillets (no bones), put it in the bread or rolls and have it for tea. It will probably be the highlight of the holiday for them.
Remember the kids don't need the same level of sophistication as you might, for a good holiday.
If the kids are happy, mum and dad usually are as well.
Good to see the local forumites lend a hand at launching time to.
