Anybody any idea where I can buy a replacement joystick for this QL/Volvo bowthruster. The microswitch below the facia is fine, the joystick itself is just a mechanical link, but the rubber cover has perished. Many thanks

If you have no joy before it starts raining, would one of those ribbed thingies be any use ? /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

You could do it even more cheaply (ie £5) with a Carling rocker switch, waterproof, if you're happy to have a rocker not a joystick

As fitted to new £2m Leopards, very bottom right of this pic, that's a Carling V series Contura switch

Sounds like all you need is the replacement rubber gaiter! RK marine sell them for about £13! The top of the joystick screws off - its a 2 min job. While your in there, give the mictoswitch a squirt of something like WD40.
Good luck!

Thanks Al, that's great. I'll try them. Yes I've already been down the WD40 route with the micro switch when water got into it in Ardnacrusha's 102ft drop lock during heavy rain when the bow thruster locked on to port. Had to hold the joystick over to stbd to neutralise while I helmed the boat with the other hand moving between helm and throttles as I steered the 3 miles down through Limerick city under all the tidal bridges in the Abbey river - scary stuff.
