wave/tide power

I wonder if there are any wave /tide power devices for small boats?Ìf these things do work on a large scale then why not on a small scale?It would be grand to leave your boat at anchor with the light on knowing that power is being generated all the time to run the light and keep the batteries up. (just back from cloud coo coo land?) /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

You can certainly get a bilge pump that uses wave action at a mooring to keep your boat afloat.

I think it's only a matter of time before someone produces a tide powered generator for boats at anchor or on a mooring.
Towed generators are necessarily compact so they don't start to produce electricity until doing about 2,5 - 3 knots. A larger diameter turbine could be made to start generating at a lower tidal current rate.
