The manual says typical (at 100kg load) draw is 28 Amps so 12 x 28 = 336 Watts

But what it doesn't say is whether the 100Kg load is an example, rather than it's maximum!

If it can handdle a 300Kg load, then my breaker will be a third of the required size!

(Also, the unit is VERY large for a 336W Windlass!)

I think the low power is to do with the gearing - its a very slow wind-in.
Cable size is v.small compared to modern (faster) units
Breaker fitted by Moody on my boat is 70A
