Waterproofing sails

My mainsail is getting rather tired but it has cleaned up well but I think the waterproofing is not as good as it should be.

Any suggestions?

No idea if this would work.....only a thought, but how about building pva diluted and painted on?

Assuming it is a dacron sail then they are not water proofed. There is a kind of sizing (I think that is what it is called) which holds the threads together and when the sail gets old it becomes much softer (and less noisy)
Don't worry about the sail going soft it will still work OK providing it hasn't stretched too much. So if it does the job you want it to do then it is fine.

Have to tell you, old chap, that the lack of life in your sail is due to age and treatment having separated the thread from the resin that once gave it such shape and performance.

There are no solutions other than to save your cash and negotiate a new one. Try Crusader - they were the keenest priced at the LBS two weeks ago.
