My Musto Coastal Jacket needed cleaning and re-waterproofing, both operations now finished without using too high a temperature or agressive detergents. Did the same to Lady Plomongs jacket, but not both together at any stage. However, same process used for both. I followed NIKWAX instructions and am drying the jacket in the sun, not using a tumble dryer.

Having applied Nikwax TX-Direct I thought the jacket would come up crinkly like it was when new, and like Lady Plomong's is right now.

Were my expectations unfounded ?? Very probably ??

Is it possible to restore the crinkliness to my jacket ??

Is the lack of crinkliness a symptom of some other malaise ??

What solutions exist, if any ??

Regards,

Plomong

I don't think that TX direct will restore crinkliness. However, the waterproofness and water beadability should be restored for a while.

Some people seem to avoid tumble-drying because they think it's "harsh" and that it will damage the fabric, however it is recommended for fabrics like Gore-Tex, as tumble-drying reactivates its water-repellant properties.

I don't know exactly what fabric Musto use, though, nor about Nikwax TX-Direct.
