Waterproofer on sails?

The other day I was buying some waterproofer in the local camping shop. One make said that it was suitable "For tents, awnings etc etc and sails".

Does anybody put waterproofer on their sails? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Probably a throw back to the days of cotton sails that had to be dried after use or they would rot.

Yep I do,
Great for dinghy spinnakers, one that quickly sheds water is much easier to hoist than a wet one, it also rejuvinates older kites for a while.

Would treating Dacron sails with waterproofer along the seams keep mildew out?
Can one Fabsil dacron??

Fabsil tin says suitable for all absorbent materials. Would necessarily stop wet getting in the join though.

6 hours drying time before it should get wet - this weekend looks like we might get 6 hours of sun /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
