Hi,

I have a couple of old Raymarine monitors that i wish to replace as they are 7 years old nos.

Does anyone know of a waterproof sunlight viewable monitor that is available at a good price. Installation is secondary as i can find a custom fitter.

I was looking at this http://www.furuno.com/en/products/multi-display/MU-150HD but think i could get a better one for less but perhaps not. Cheers in advance.

I fear that might be a contradiction in terms!

I agree; its an oxymoron.
I havent been able to find any splashproof, True daylight viewable PC monitors for less than the cost of a decent dedicated chartplotter, so I went down the route of buying a "Daylight viewable" monitor and making my own GRP waterproof housing as a repeater for my PC (OpenCPN) nav station.
Once in the cockpit in Greece I found that it wasnt really daylight viewable and gave up on the project.
If you do find anything I'll be second in the queue to buy one ;)

Hi James

I successfully installed a Faytech 15 inch IP65 on my boat last year - cost me about 300 quid and is touchscreen, daylight viewable and comes with a remote.

No connection to them; but did a bit of research on them before buying, the company is run by a German guy who married a chinese lady. Apparently he was horrified by the quality of electronics coming out that he started the company to provide german quality at Chinese prices..... no complaints about the built quality, working well for me.
