watermota sea panther?

There are people on here who know more about this than me, but I can tell you that they're marinised Ford engines. We have one in our Centaur, think it was the original one fitted 35 years ago, still running sweet as a bell & when we had Tony Brooks on board he said it should be good for another 15-20 years. (Apparently they're more solidly made than these fancy modern things.)

Four cylinders, 24V starting system with 12V parts, no glow, can result in needing to change the starter motor regularly if you're rough with it.

If you end up needing a manual, Wooslehunter very kindly scanned one for me, happy to pass it on.

Based on a Ford 1600 pushrod engine (MK 2 Cortina?).

Diesel version of the Sea Tiger petrol.
 
I have a little Watermota Shrimp sitting in the shed, a small relative of the Sea Panther. It's an inboard petrol / paraffin engine which is air cooled. There is a cowling around the head and air is ducted from outside. Again, it is very well engineered and runs like a dream.

The drive arrangement is a thing of beauty: a lever pushes or pulls an outer shaft that feathers the 2-bladed prop. Keep pushing and the blades continue to twist until they are working in reverse!

I was going to fit it in an old wooden Caprice but that project managed to rot away before I got round to it.

Perhaps I should put it on ebay and free up some shed space. I've even got the stern tube, stuffing box and greaser for it.
