Hi

I have a 100 l/h DESSALATOR watermaker on the boat. According to the meter it has only run for 32 hours in its life, but conscious of the fact that I don't want to destroy the membranes (if they are not shot already) I haven't turned it on, however I'm down on the boat for a month from this weekend and want to try and get it going. I realise that I will need to sanitise the system and was planning on using the sterilizing cartridge to do this. Does anyone have any other useful advice before I break it??!

Cheers
Mark

Yes get an expert in to recommission it! I guess the first question is whether you know for sure it was properly flushed through with fresh water when it was decommissioned? If not you could have bacteria inside the membranes and apart from making contaminated water you could damage the membranes if you started the unit up. You will also likely have a prefilter which needs changing. Personally I wouldnt trust myself to properly recommission a watermaker after a long period idle:)
