I have often seen discussion in the PBO letters page concerning water taxi availabilty when visiting West Mersea.
As an update:
There is the Yacht Club taxi for club members and visiting crews (YC1) available w/e and weekdays.

Also there is Lady Grace ("Lady Grace" VHF Ch 72) available 7 days a week for any boat or visitor. Also does parties/treasure hunts and cruises around the creeks, but importantly can be available at odd times (late night?) when YC1 may not be, and to those that may be excluded on YC1.
Try Lady Grace on the VHF (72) or tel 07791 859624.

One very happy customer!

Some years now, but when I bought my boat from a club member. The boatyard launched her and told me she was on a mooring "near the shallows". of course, that meant nothing to me - I guess they may have forgotten where they'd put her! I called the club taxi to ask if he'd seen her, as he knew the boat. Took all the crew and a week's gear out without my actually asking, very friendly and happy to help. It was a bank holiday evening and easier to take us out than describe where the mooring was. I hope he enjoyed a refreshing beer afterward.

I would have liked to have taken a mooring in the area for one season, just to nose around a different cruising area before bringing her home, but couldn't find a vacant buoy!

Rob.
