Water tanks

Has anyone witth an aluminium water tank experienced a white deposit coming through into the pump stratiner (aluminium oxide?). If so, is there something that you can do to prevent the problem? <font color="blue"> </font>

In the UK very small amounts of aluminium oxide is added to the drinking water to make it look crystal clear!! If you have oxide then perhaps you have copper pipeing some where ? Anyway "rust"= leak on the way!
