Can anyone help me with the dimension of these as the old contaminated ones were removed by the previous owner and its difficult to measure the space where it/they was/were located. Also - is there only one tank fitted or two. Thanks.

Sorry I can't help directly but there are two points which might help:
1) try making a mock-up out of corrugated cardboard and parcel tape. This will be accurate and will also tell you whether you can get it in or not. On my boat, the tanks were put on a coathanger and the rest of the vessel was constructed around them!

2) from a survey of my boat's class a while ago, I'd say there is no such thing as a standard boat when they get to this age, especially when it comes to the size and disposition of tanks. Assess what you want in the given space and fit it, regardless of what was there originally. Unless you are racing, a few extra or fewer tens of kilos here or there will not make a noticable difference.

Very immportant thant you make a mockup of the tank to see if you can get it into the space, as that is the most difficult part of the fit normally. Once you have a mock up that is right, you can take it to a tank making company like Tek-Tanks, and they will make a copy of it that will be identical in dimensions. I made my mock-up out of MDF caiuse that was the cheapest wood available. some make it out of cardboard, but I was worried that the shape I wanted would distort if made out of cardboard.

Hi ,

As a former owner of a Snappie 24 which I think was one step back , we had one tank under the starboard pilot berth but it was a glassed in part of the structure so not sure if your's was the same.

Have you tried the Snapdragon Association technical help guy. Most jobs on a Snappie have already been experienced by other owners and he is a fountain of knowledge.

The tech officer was I remember Mike Shepherd .. 01206 382675

The secretary for the association is Mrs. S. Byde .. 01702 479578

Good luck.

My 747 has a single water tank under the starboard quarter berth. It is GRP and appears to be 'built in'. The capacity is quite small, so adding a second tank would be a good idea I think.

Rabbie - There are a number of different interior layouts, some Snappies were home finished. Mine is quite a substantial fibreglass tank that occupies most of the space under the starboard quarterberth. Can you give a bit more information on your lay out and the location of your tank?

Mark. I've sent a PM. Thanks to others for tips. It appears that the owner may have installed a flexible tank under port bunk to improve capacity and this has led to some confusion.
