The water tank inside our steel yacht is placed against the port hull, it is not clear as to whether the inside of the tank is actually the hull or whether the hull and tank wall are separate. Is it likely that they are separate or is it likely that the designer built the water tank using the hull as one wall of the tank?
The inside of the tank appears to be very corroded in light of the previous question this could have considerable significance. Are there methods for removing the corrosion inside the tank?

Very probable! Especially if you cant see anything that looks like a fixing lug. How big is your boat: tanks are below wl so plating should be thicker (and if it does corrode through the tank gets polluted but you dont sink). As a stop gap, you can make good (derust + good paint job) as best you can and put a flexible tank inside. If it looks very bad try and push a blunt instrument through the side plating: if it does go through, or if it makes a dent, you have a replating job on your hands....easy (well, fairly) with steel!
