An old trick ... is to fit a Y piece into the outlet pipe and a second clear plastic pipe fixed vertical with open top end .... or at least a plug with a small air-hole. In fact to keep things clean - you could always connect top of pipe into the filling hose to close the circuit.
Behind the pipe is fixed a plate with dark lines at 45 degrees ..... sort of like a barbers pole idea.
The level of water in the pipe will be same as level in tank and the lines behind will have a change of angle where the top of the water is .
another indicator is a small pastic ball in the pipe similar to a kettle indicator.
Simplest idea - no electrics involved and works for diesel, water ..... etc.
Funny really - but I have to dip my diesel tank / water tank with bamboo sticks, not same one of course !! - and always intended to fit sight tubes .... just one of those jobs you never get around to .....

I dont much like the tube attached to the side of the tank, it provides a weak point, that could be broken, and then lead to los of contents inside boat. For the same reason, my fuel is drawn from a tube coming in from the top of the tank, rather than a take off at the lowest point.
Maybe I am just paranoid, - or is it that I am sane and . . . . /forums/images/icons/crazy.gif

[/ QUOTE ]Do you, or does anyone else have any further experience of this product since August? Or any alternatives that don't require radical metalwork mods to the water tanks or cost £200+?
