Water pump lube?

I’ve got a couple of new impellers in the spares kit for my 1gm10, but no tubes of the gloop used to help get it all put together again. Can anyone tell me what the gloop is, and better still what do I already have in the kitchen to replace it for free?

I think the "proper" stuff is vegetable glycerine, commonly used in e-cig juice.

The gloop Johnson supply with their impellers reminds me a lot of the gel base of a lot of hand sanitizers, so vegetable glycerin is probably bang on.

Another vote for washing up liquid, of the brand of your choice. There is a theoretical risk that grease will soften and damage the rubber impellor.

The lube included with impeller kits is glycerine but as said, washing up liquid is a good household alternative.

And don't bother about the rotation direction - it will turn itself right at first start of the engine.

I saw glycerin mentioned on the tube that came with a replacement impeller. I usually use silicone grease when the impeller doesn't come with a tube of lubricant. I avoid ordinary grease as it may degrade the lobes.
