Hi Folks,

I have a water feed pump that is failing to start, It tries making the following noise....burrrr (:-) then stops then burrr then stops then burrr, The lights flicker when it does this. (I am in a marina on shore power batteries all 100%

What do you think it could be?

thanks

James

Not enough information. Domestic water pump? Make? Enough water in the tank? Taps open?

If this is a conventional domestic water pump, diaphragm type, it sounds possible that the pump is priming, getting up to pressure, which is then collapsing rapidly. A cause of this is often that there is a piece of debris lodged in the suction valve. Is there a strainer upstream of the pump?

IT is a Calepda impeller pump for a water maker. The noise it makes is not the pump it is the electric motor failing to start. My initial thought was that the capacitor had failed. I took it out and it looked rather sorry looking.

The brand of watermaker is Enwa

Thanks for the tip on the "debris lodged" Good to scan that one into my mind for when my domestic system fails.
