It floods down mine - but we just live with it and it doesnt do any harm. I wouldnt like to have it pool inside the mast though and draining into the bilg seems the best option.
It shouldn't pool in the mast...the bung should stop it at deck level, and it should drain away harmlessly from there thrugh a drain hole..... wouldn't want my bilges filling up every time it rained!.... I'm trying to get a dry boat...... otherwise eveything will be permanently damp all winter....
PS the bung is usually a big piece of shaped closed cell foam..... next time you get your mast dropped, speak to a rigger... they'll be able to source one for you of the correct shape, and then its easy to fit....
There are dedicated wiring chanels and some loose cables. Last night in a bout an hour I filled a mug with rainwater that ran down one cable. I have no intentions of having the mast dropped. I have thought about injecting foam into a baloon to form a barrier.
I agree with Redmond, I dont find it much of a problem.
However.....I do intend to split my raw water engine intake to drain the bilge water through the engine before shutting down. Thus giving the engine internals a nice freshwater rinse! Brian.
