My water pipes from the fresh water tanks are using pipes marked outside as 5/8"OD. The connections are the compression type using a plastic olive and metal ring. I am trying to connect up my deck shower but ideally need two tee pieces and possibly some additional piping. Most pipe seems to be 13mm or 1/2", Does anyone know where I can purchase these.
Thanks in advance

Geoff

It's the ID (inner diameter) of a hose that hose size is based on...and most water hoses have 1/8" wall thickness. So if your hose is marked 5/8" OD, the ID should be 1/2"...which would make 1/2" fittings--which are always determined by their OD because they have to fit inside the hose--the right size. You'll have a hard time getting the hose onto a fitting that's larger.

Hi Geoff,

I would have thought it was 15mm? if the fittings are 1/2inch they are very old! if you go to a proper plumbing shop, independants are best because they are often run by a plumber who knows his T joints from his elbows! he will be able to advise you.

Haven't seen you at Chatham much? are you going on your hols on the boat?

Hi Barry. The pipe reads 5/8"OD and I'm sure it was a popular size back in 1995 the boat build year, so I 'm not sure why I am having problems locating the fittings. I saw the correct, albeit old stock fittings in Pirates cave a while ago and perhaps I should have asked Mike who the manufacturer was or tried other chandleries like the one in Faversham who may have stocks of discontinued fittings. As other forumites have suggested, I will try Plumbcentre or as you say contact a traditional plumbers merchant ( there is a good one at Chalk near Gravesend ) for help.
Will be at the marina sometime this weekend but have been on holiday in Scotland for the past two weeks so hopefully see you then. We will be cruising around the IOW and Southampton during Boat show week weather permitting.
