I am getting water penetration into the saloon of my deck stepped Albin Vega when the mast is up but not when the mast is down. Any tips on how to minimise leaks. The leak appears as a drip coming from the 'lintel' of the main bulkhead doorway.

Probably the mast is straining something and opening a miniscule crack, try finding it and using "Capn. Tolleys creeping crack cure" or try tightening the tabernacle hold down bolts or resealing them or resealing the whole tabernacle, just thoughts.

Could be symptoms of something more serious. Get mast and tabernackle off and find the crack in the GRP deck, which must be opening under load from mast. May be decay of mast step - is it wooden reinforced under deck ?
Vega association ?

This is going to sound drastic but you may as well find out how big a problem you've got now rather than later! I'd be inclined to drill a small hole (say 3mm) in the lowest part of the "lintel" and see if you get a lot more water out. If so, you'll need to look further to find out what material is inside the lintel. It might well be wood and if there has been water in there for a long time, it might be rotten.

If ou have lights or electronics up your mast, I suggest, if you haven't alrady don it, that you check the waterproofness of the the point where the cables go thru the cabin top or deck.

Cheers,
Alexis
