My blue hull was professionally polished one month ago before relaunching, however, with all the rain we've been having, I've already noticed water marks on the hull, which is very annoying!

Is there anything I can do to prevent water marks occurring, and what is the best way I can remove them with the boat afloat?

Your boat is 8 years old and a blue hull.

If by water marks you mean a smeary looking white haze that wont wash away with soap and water your gel coat may be starting to go chalky.

Its about the right age to start , red or maroon hulls are the worst then green and blue.

My boat was in portugal so higher sunshine and UV and started at about 8 years old to go.

Cut it back to a deep blue shine today and polish well and in 4 to six weeks it starts to go smeary as if dirty water has fried on it and progressively gets more opaque ie chalky again.

I was looking at some peche promeade boats of POlish origin the other day about 2005 with a maroon hull starting to go well chalky.

Eventually the only answer is to spray paint it.
