I recently dismantled my maxprop for the first time in preparation for replacing the cutlass bearing. There was a small amount of water (perhaps 5ml) inside the prop - is this normal? There are no seals and I guess the grease protects the internal workings as well as providing lubrication. Any thoughts?

Yes its under water. pump blakes seacock grease in to displace it

go on the Darglow site for manuals

That might be a problem :-( It was only when the splined cone came out and I wiped the grease off that I saw the markings. I think the PO might have written them down - I have a vague memory of seeing the settings. The question is where......... If I can't find them, I how would I determine them?

A Crystal Ball :encouragement:
Dont ask how i know

Is it on the 406, if so Oyster will have the build file, that gave me a head start but i had to coarsen the pitch later

Same for Variprop, grease in once a year and water out!

Pitch is set from outside and manufacturers recommended pitch marks easily visible. The pitch is not disturbed on annual removal.
