do any of you fill up at essex marina?
when we were out at the weekend i heard 2 guys from our marina talking about breaking down and when they check out the problem the water seperstor was full of water and sludge.
my boat was serviced 4 months ago so i thoght wont affect me the boat is only 14 months old, but when i got back to the marina and the seperator was full of water and as that drained out the sludge slid down.
obviously the marina have a problem but they say there fuel is ok(well they would)
so please check and put the diesel bug stuff in quick. hope this helps someone.

I heard this happened to a school teacher friend of the wife a few years back. He had the boat prepare, fueled and launched for his summer cruise he got as far as the mouth of the Crouch and had to be towed back. The marina claimed it was condensation in his tank, several pints!

A bit late now but I would never add fuel direct to my tank. Far better to buy it from a farm fuel supplier with a good turnover of fuel that way it can be inspected before adding it to your tank. I also filter the fuel into the tank rather than clog the boat filter with the particulates the fuel somehow picks up on route from refinery to the customer.

We do the same (but from petrol or truck stations because we have no road taxes at point of sale on road diesel here) and is the best advice regarding fuel for yachts I have ever been given. High turnover and tanks managed by people for who sale of fuel is their business rather than it just being a sideline seems to mean it is always clean and that shows when one inspects ones fuel filters at change time.

Never any drips or spills on deck either.
