watching paint being dried - cold day boat fettling

I am hoping to dry the washboards enough to put them in tonight

I fear I shall not succeed

It is cold - a night with no washboards will not be pleasant - however, I shall contrive something using tarpaulin and bungee

Time to get the fork 'andles out then!

Next time use Ronseal water based gloss, it's touch dry in 2 hrs even in cold weather. The finish isn't (IMHO) brilliant but it can be re coated in 4 hrs.

Keep warm get the hot water bottle out.:encouragement:

I have two sets of washboards..... new ones and old ones........ the old ones go in while I re varnish the new ones! ( at home ..... then I can sleep in the warmth of my own bedroom)

You might consider having a see-thru washboard? It will be good for a live-aboard in horrible weather; daylight in, rain out.

Mark out a template on newspaper using your wooden washboard. Go to a plastics supplier and they will cut you UV proof plastic to the exact size (apart from thickness of course). Tell 'em to chamfer the edges. It shouldn't cost much. It will become a valued item of inventory.

the centaur came with a set

goodie! I thought - these will be great

in the the end I carried them right around scotland and never used them

so I guess a similar set for Katie L might be just one more thing to carry around

there's summat wrong with your sleeping bags! you should be toast wth two. empty a whisky bottle by drinking it, then fill it with hot water. that helps too
