We sailed over to Watchet on Saturday, intending to continue on to Portcawl on Sunday morning. Unfortunately, although the mud problem is not as bad as last year, it is pretty dire. I feel sorry for the staff as they try really hard to be accommodating but if I want to sit in the mud I can do it without having to pay twenty two quid!

After a great night in the Esplanade club we decided against the early start for Portcawl as the winds forecast for Monday would have meant motoring back to Cardiff. Our departure for Cardiff was delayed by the mud and to compound the marina's woes the boat ahead of us hit the gate, despite going on green lights. It appears the gate had malfunctioned and returned to the up position.

I would recommend anyone going through the entrance to do so at minimum speed. Hopefully the boat hasn't suffered any lasting damage, although I imagine it will be lifted out for a full check pretty soon.
