Did anyone get over to the watchet carnival?

I backed out due to poor forecast, didn’t want to put SWMBO off boating for life following earlier trip.
We went over to Cardiff Bay and had a good weekend. Puppet show and fireworks Saturday night were very good, pity about rain though.

Slept over Saturday night and woke Sunday morning to find hundreds of runners taking part in the Bupa 10K run passing the marina. Any energetic forum members take part in this?

Weather looks a bit more favourable this weekend so if all goes to plan we’ll set off Friday for the night at Watchet then back to Cardiff Saturday for the “Cardiff Big Weekend” Live music, largest travelling funfair and carnival.

Keeping fingers crossed for decent weather to continue into weekend /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Only one or two boats visited this year. The quayside was dead on saturday, but there was a fete on Sunday and the carnival procession in the afternoon which cheered it up a bit. Nothing like previous years though. I am sure the council is happy to see their "development" plan taking shape!

There’s a lot to be said for, “If it’s not broke, don’t fix it” something that a lot of councils fail to grasp. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Do you think the new site had any bearing on the low turn out or was it down to the foreceasts? Shame really as the weather didnt turn out too bad in the end. I was working or would have come across.

For us and some others in the marina it was the weather, we intended going. We have never been to watchet carnival before so would have nothing to compare it to.

We had thougt about it but the forecasts and tides put us off- good job too as we went out to Flatholm and it was quite rough!

Hoping tomorrow will OK to take my son and his wife out- first time they will have been to see in the boat

Glad you and your boys enjoyed the trip out today. I think the next time I'm dithering on whether to go out or not I’ll check with you first. You seem to be a pretty good judge of conditions
