Not a raging success as a forum get together /rally weekend but nonetheless a great weekend.

Bit concerned about the fresh NE breeze so locked out of Cardiff dead on low water to get part way up before the tide started kicking up against the wind.

We got up to the E and W before it started getting choppy,Banjo went well for what she is,tacked all the way up to Portishead where we had time for coffee and sandwiches outside then Seedog locked out and we motored up to Bristol city.

Apologies for the wide post i tried a few times but it kept putting 2 photos side by side. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Looks great. Everyone seems to be having a lovely time, except the miserable beggar in the third photo.

Couple of months, and maybe Louise and I will be able to join in on one of these.

Well done for getting out there. Where were the rest of them? Have mixed memories of the Bristol Channel, mostly of wind over tide - but then if you can cope in the Bristol Channel you can cope anywhere. Shame about Watchet though.

"Where were the rest of them? "

One of them was unable to get his vessel seaworthy due to a family illness, which meant his weekend off was unproductive from the boating POV /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif (I'm still "nearly there"!)

I was going to go out on Saturday, on a Dufour 35, with a couple who are relatively new to sailing, but I had to cry off that as well. They boldly set sail into the BC unaccompanied, and seem to have successfully been Down and Back. Good on 'em /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Sorry we didn't come. Excuses include:

1. Boat not ready.
2. Cardiff City - FA Cup blah blah
3. Was drunk - again!
4. Aliens landed in my garden and I had to clear up the mess!

We were doing moorings in Ramsey sound. Cold dark water, rusty chain, shackles, seizing wire and pinched fingers. Untangling chain, setting anchors, changing swivels. One guy even thanked us.....

We had aliens too smashing wine bottles all over the block paving......................or was it the kids /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
What a mess!

Re: Bristol Harbour charges .

For 25 ft we paid £11 something for a 24 hour license. Take your insurance cert or you have to buy theirs for the number of days your there.

I noticed theres electricity on the visitors pontoons at Arnolfini (Didnt use it so dont know hpow you pay for it)also some new pontoons near the Lloyds bank area.
