Anyone else up for a Watchet Weekend 17 and 18 May? Tides are around 7 oclock medium size tides. Weather will be 10 to 12 knots SW with sunshine and beer will be free in all the pubs . Well the tide part is true anyway /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Sorry but I cant offer anyone a berth as I will probably have the family aboard. If anyone can offer a spare berth to anyone it would be good to see as many faces as possible. Weather Gods permitting of course.

My forecast is as good as anyone elses /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Are you thinking of going?

I'd like to go but would I be right in thinking that your SW 10-12 will be right on the nose from Portishead. Is there a wind that would suit us both that you could ask your weather gods for and I'll ask mine as well. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

lets see what the weather is doing.

Thats all we can ever do really. If were going to have any get together weekends people need a date to scrawl in their diaries as far ahead as possible then hope for suitable weather on the day.

Its allways each individuals responsibility to make sure the weather on the day is suitable for them and go or not go.

I have been on 4 of the YBW Cherbourg weekends Some years the weather has stopped smaller boats from going one year there were 20 + boats and 90 + people at the meal in Cherbourg YC. Eventually its bound to be a wash out due to weather but so far all 5 Cherbourg weekends have been successfull.

It would be great to see as many people from the forum as possible and put faces and real names to internet names.(It all gets confusing as the night goes on) /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Bev and I will do our best to make an annual pilgrimage to the only place I know that hasn't got the all-essential Indian! I always say I don't need curry after a drink but it's patently untrue!

We will probably have to bring the dog but I'm sure he'll be OK. We haven't been to Watchet in ages so it'll be nice to make the trip and to see all those fluttering burgees!

Take care all,

Lizzy D

Damn! I've just checked the diary and I'm booked up on the Saturday

You caught a fish with that forecast Graham.

Hopefully we will be in Brittany on the boat by mid May enjoying the sunshine in SW 10 to 12 kn. . Well its as reliable a forecast as your weather.

Watchet website here Watchet Marina Subject to suitable weather we intend to leave Cardiff on the ebb tide anchor at Blue anchor bay until the gates open at about 1600.On the Saturday.

For anyone who hasnt visited the marina before be aware that for the first 10 or 15 minutes after the gate opens there is a strong current through the gate. You can go straight in but its less stressfull to wait in the outer harbour for 10 minutes then go in on the next green light.

As long as our boat's fixed by then, we'll likely come as well. Having not yet been to Watchet it'll be good to go 'in convoy' with others, so to speak.

May be a daft question here but, if we bring the mutt, can we get out of the marina easily enough to take her for a walk or are we best finding her a bed in kennels for the weekend ?

When you check in to the marina they give you fob to get into the pontoon gate. Unless the re-development has started there is a large carpark almost at the top of the steps. If you want a longer walk there are plenty around. We have only walked west from Watchet but I'm sure there is a cliff walk east from the marina.

Excellent, thanks, looks like Sally the Seadog can come with us then.

All we need now is a new fuel pump from the US, a triple jointed person with midget hands to remove the old one without resorting to taking the engine out and a sparky to fix all the lighting circuits and we're sorted.

Erm...
