Dodgy fuel lines on OB motors.
I have a nice newish Suzuki 100 OB that cut out on me on Sat. Reason...the bulb in the fuel line dissasembled itself internally, leaving the one way line valves adrift in the bulb itself. The adrift clack valve then turned itself around in the bulb (like b@stard little clack valves do) and followed the flow of fuel down the line and into the valve seat - so blocking the line.
Managed to limp home very p!ssed off that this device had wasted an otherwise beautiful morning. Fitted new line and bulb.
I guess the moral of the story is that all such assemblies over 10 years old should be replaced and I should have replaced this one when I changed the motor.
Just another of the examples of the obtuse things that can and do go wrong when out at sea. Yes, I do carry an aux, 3.5HP Yamaha. Still spoilt my day though!
