Further to this thread...
I also plan to ... mount a holder for the wash board (there is one, but in the wrong cabin)...

I'm considering using some plastic track to hold the wash boards, which are 10mm thick. Something like this, but wider:

Any suggestions?

Looks a good Idea. have you got somewhere accessable to mount the tracks. We did something similar on our last boat with 3 short tracks made of wood and screwed to the bulkhead in the heads for a large single washboard. Currently we have a Bavaria 350 which has a fairly small washboard which we stow behind a bungee, wrapped in a toweling sleeve, in the stern cabin.

I made one out of timber which holds the wooden washboard & the Perspex washboard. It was fairly narrow and I fitted it to the inside face of the cockpit locker with the base resting on one of the frames. I made it from layers of timbers providing slots for each washboard. The wooden washboard has a proud lock assembly which needed to be considered. The end result is great and I'm really pleased with it. I have no photos unfortunately.

Secure in all weathers. Hardwood moulding screwed to sole board and cushioned with draft strip to avoid chipping the washboard. The clip was self made and bolted through to the heads and could be combined with a loo roll holder or boathook clip if necessary in there.

Presumably that was originally designed for a one-piece board...
Yes, I assume so. That's one of the reasons I plan to make a new one.

Having thought about it, I may not use the plastic track, as the slot depth for the boards will be different (unless the smaller one is loose). I'll have to check my traced template for the size difference.

Existing rack shown below. I want to make similar in the aft-starboard cabin, which I rarely use. The plan is to have two slots for the boards, or a proper place for the lower board.

It seems to me that the smaller board would sit horizontally on that rack, with the bigger board above it, if the slots in the two vertical brackets were opened up.

Piece of ally extrusion, two hooks araldited inside locker, add bungee cord. Not pretty, but its inside cockpit locker so aesthetics not important.

Thats exactly what i do on mine with exactly same mounts and split board ,i was sceptical at first as top board only fits in 2/3 inches , but has proved to be more than adequate , im most impressed with this simple stowage
