Took a trundle up to the Folly yesterday to get out of the Solent for a bit. Very quiet further up, ambling along a 5kn when harbourmaster comes flying up and moans about my wash. He should see what I create at 6 kn!

As far as I could see I was creating very little, not even a bit of white froth.

As he was having a go 2 water taxis went past creating 10 times my wash, ah but they are commercial he says.

He then shoots off at about 10 knots bouncing us about all over the place.

Coming back down the river we meet him again, he wanders out and says, that's better, easy when you think of others isn't it. Sarky git.

That's ridiculous. We took a trip up the Medina in a RIB yesterday ourselves and tied up to a pontoon for a spot of lunch and we noticed the same thing ie. the so called professional boaters were creating the most wash along with the posh yacht club launches. The only kind of boater who were taking it easy were the leisure boaters. Unless I'm wrong, there is no dispensation for commercial boats to ignore the speed limit. If it were me, I'd tell the harbourmaster to piss off and do something useful. Filming him ignoring his own speed limit on your mobile phone and a letter to the harbour commision might make him rethink his attitude. After all, if it wasn't for visiting boaters he'd be on the dole. These jobsworths really irritate me

I suspect it's a Cowes Week thing. To be fair the HM probably is having a crap time at the moment but why pick on the little ones.

Some loverly stuff moored up there at the mo by out in the Solent! I try to avoid getting too close to raggies etc but it was so busy it was impossible to avoid some close encounters.

Had to be done though, the weather was too good to not ne out there. Not going out again till the CW lots bugger off though.

Its probably the same part time idiot driving a large multicoloured jetrib that gave me a hard time recently.told me to pull over ignored him then he attempted to ram me told him to piss off and get a proper job
Large Sealine behind me 2 yachts in front of me all travelling at same speed very conjested and he rushes in.
Saw him up river later moored up against yacht for lunch break. When he left he manoeuvred the rib stern to the yacht
and gave them a huge blast of water from the jet drive towards the cockpit

he didn't have a little moustache and hair swept to one side did he?

You're right about the water taxis. they're a nightmare
