Where can I find decent quality,ie not zinc,locks of the kind that have a rotating tang at the end?

Thanks but no.I need the type that is barrel shaped and is secured by a brass nut.It goes through the wasboard and has a tang on the inside that engages with the sliding hatch when the key is turned.

I speak no German at all but easy enough to find the lock(s) in their catalogue If you click on the union jack

In fact a choice of two. The one already shown and one with a sliding bolt.

Barrel locks are available in UK and many other places, but the OP lives in Portugal, as I do and I have found that shipping costs from UK are prohibitive. From Germany it is €6.50 for up to 35 Kgs. by UPS.
