Heard this conversation on CH 16 on Saturday :-

"Solent Coastguard, this is Southampton Patrol. There is a small fishing vessel with engine failure drifting just south of the Bramble Bank. No name, no radio, no idea."

"Southampton Patrol, this is Solent Coastguard. Are you able to offer a tow?"

"Solent Coastguard - Southampton Patrol. Yes OK. I'm going into Cowes - so he is as well - like it or not!"

"Southampton Patrol - Solent Coastguard. Many thanks"

I wonder if the fishing boat ever got to Cowes.

Didn't hear that, but did hear Phandango answering a call from Solent Coastguard to assist a motorboat with a fouled prop somewhere between the forts and the Nab. Wondered if it was the Phandango from hereabouts? Think I heard the same casualty boat reporting in as safely tied up later on - so sounds like a job well done.
