WARNING: some not nice people on this site

I have that problem but thats because i spend all my money in the for sale section /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Toys ohhh i love toys /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Oh and i make sure i put money in the account if i am sending a cheque ! So no need to worry anyone /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I expect that the problem he had with his bank was that he had taken out more money than he had put in!

The trouble is that it is people like that who are complaining when the banks charge them for bouncing their cheques. We should all watch out because if the banks lose the present court case over those charges, then it is the honest majority who will pay, because the banks will end "free" banking and revert to monthy account fees for most customers. As things stand about 1% of bank current account customers abuse the system and cause a disproportionate amount of trouble and administrative cost to the banks. If these people are allowed to avoid being charged for the nuisance they cause, the cost will fall on the rest of us.

I don't think anyone is arguing in the current case that people who cause the banks cost in returning items should pay nothing, it's the level of charges.
What banks, or any other company, are not allowed to do is profiteer from such charges.
If it costs the banks, say, £5 to send a letter and return a cheque, I have no problem with the cause person having to pay the £5.
I do object though to them having to pay £40, which makes the banks £35 profit!
After all, no bank charges you for refusing a credit card ar the point of sale - and for direct debits, etc the technology is exactly the same.
Better to adopt the French system - writing a cheque with insufficient funds is an offence, and you have to show the Bank of France / local police that you have rectified the situation or you are banned from using cheques for 5 years!

Well in this case I am the culprit - yes i know the original pyment was a week or so late - I checked with my bank over 2 weeks ago to be informed the transfer had gone through - today they still inform me it has gone through but the account number does not match yours - a new payment for £35 has left my account today and will be in yours friday. I will receive a credit for the missing original transaction when they track it down.
I can only appologise for the confusion /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

It's disappointing when your trust is abused this way. I once sent an article to a well known forumite on the promise of a cheque which duly arrived but turned out be rubber. It bounced twice, after which I gave up and wrote it off to experience.

Selling anything at the moment? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

NAME AND SHAME: He has had ample opportunity to pay you, or talk about it. Assuming he has receved the goods, it is his duty to deal with any problems he may have.

There is no excuse.

What about those of us that buy something and dont get it?That is the vendor is happy to sell then then having sold the item hear, puts it on ebay to see if he gets more!!!Then dosent respond, they could at least say "you can have it if i dont get more".

Thats put me off looking at the for sale hear.Though in the past ive bought a VHF & Compass which are perfect from very honest helpful vendors.Though my compass arrived i still havent got it do remember a reliable delivery address is needed!

Then there are the "not quite honest" OR "Let the buyer beware" that sell something with a missing part knowing full well that that part will cost so much the items better put in the bin

I would like to say i cant imagin that anyone hear would get something then not pay or give a bad cheque, but as im leaving the forum because of the "captain slattery" posts im wondering just whos out sailing today

In the case of sent & not paid then name the buyer.Next he will be a sellor as most sellors reasonably want the cash first

I do transfers to my daughters bank account, i see it debited immediately from my account and it shows up within a few hours in hers.

I bought some spray paint on line for my car. When it didn't arrive I emailed the company to say I hadn't received it. I was a bit annoyed, they were a bit annoyed..but they duly sent me another parcel..which arrived safely.

A month later, my wife discovers the parcel in the bottom of our animal feed wheely bin (the animal had gone, but we still had the empty bin in the back yard). The delivery driver had placed the parcel there.

I swear to this day there was no note telling us where the delivery driver had left the parcel, but I still felt very embarased all the same.

I made an offer for a radar recently which was negotiated up, but didn't apparently meet the seller's needs. Then I see it on e-bay, selling for £100 less than I offered!
/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Oh, how I laughed, I saved £350 & he lost £100. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
OK, so I don't have a radar, but I've managed for 35 years without so I may not miss it too much. I'm not sure the batteries would have coped, and WhoTF is going to watch it when I am singlehanding?

[/ QUOTE ]Those of us who are old hands at auctions and Ebay would point out that you should never bid on anything you don't want to buy and never put in a bid for more than its worth to you. If you see something you'd like to buy fix a maximum price and stick to it. If you do that, auctions can be a good way to buy.

I think the financial watchdog has ordered all banks to speed the process up. Some have now switched to the new system and some are in the process of changing. I believe the new 'target' will be 2 hours.

Re: WARNING: some not nice people on this site - debt paid

Debt settled. money in the bank.
thanks to dnickj for sorting this out.
still, a bit of a pity the lengths i had to resort to.
note, he 'outed' himself, not me. we could have settled this privately.
