In researching to aquire a possible power buffer/polisher, I came across this internet site/supplier: www.toolbaydirect.co.uk. I ordered an orbital polisher; all the usual,-add to cart, proceed to checkout etc.Paid by debit card (wished I had done cc).
Delivery time 2/3days,e-mail confirmation of order, would receive tracking no when dispatched to delivery company. Then; nothing. No response to any e-mails.Don`t list a contact no (only fax & e-mail).Tracked down the phone no. via Thomson directory, but only answer machine asking you to e-mail.
The reviews via Thomsons are very negative matching the lack of service I have received.
It`s not the money, not much involved, it just really p****s you off.Of course these goods may still arrive but I very much doubt it.
As more and more people are now buying online, its a cautionary tale of being carefull and only going to trusted sites. The annoying thing is I wasn`t trawling the internet to get this particular tool as cheap as possible,I came across it,seemed what I wanted, and bought it.
Seems a company to be avoided.

Was that the same phone number as shown on their website? If so, try ringing the owner, Elliot Sparks, at home on 01262 609471.

Certain of my acquaintances would have called at:-

Unit C, Enterprise Way
Bessingby Industrial Estate
Bridlington
East Yorkshire
YO16 4SF

Alternatively you might like to contact the local Trading Standards Office:-

East Riding of Yorkshire Trading Standards
Brudenell Way, Hull HU6 9DX

tel 08454 040506
fax 01482 803154

consumeradvice@eastriding.gov.uk

Strictly speaking you should give a reasonable period of notice for them to complete your transaction - say 7 days.

I've placed 2 orders with them. First one took over 2 weeks to deliver. Tried to contact them via email (no phone number available)- no response at all from them. Goods did arrive, eventually. I (stupidy) placed a second order with them. Exactly same script, except this ended up being a 4 week delivery. Emails ignored, wven when I threatened to get Trading Standards involved.

So, avoid them completely. I hope they go out of business as they are taking our money and taking p^ss at the same time. There's no excuse for ignoring customers completely. They're on ebay as well. Had I purchased from ebay, I'd have posted as negative a feedback response as I could. Because I ordered through their website directly, I had no where to register -ve feedback for poor service.

There's many better traders out there who provide good service, and EARN repeat business. Some don't care.

There, I feel better now.... :)

Yes I understand that, it is now more than 7 days.It is also the fact that they clearly state you are given a tracking number and 2/3 days delivery. The last poster also backs up what I and the Thomson reviewers have experienced. But more than that is I am just p**** off!
Of course I will report to the various authorities, but meanwhile if I can at least make anyone else just pause for thought.

It might help if you know how some internet retailers work.

They make supply arrangements with either manufacturers or wholesalers, but they don't keep much if any stock, their supplier sends it to you on 'direct dispatch' on their behalf and invoices them. Fine if they have paid their supplier bills and the supplier has stock themselves, but not anywhere near as good as buying from a stock holder - Screwfix - Toolstation etc. Amazon gets their supplier to send direct, but they are well funded and organised.

I hope your purchase sorts itself out, I doubt they are crooks, just not very good.

This etailers cards are marked.

Call trading standards. SWIMBO was conned a couple of years ago by a guy who was called to fix the dish washer. It was only a few £ but I called tradind standards. The guy was convicted of quite a few counts & gets sentense this month & may very well go down. He'd been doing it for years.

Yu never know what they may have brewing.

Yes I did figure that out, albeit too late. One of the problems was that neither B&Q, Screwfix,Argos etc had what I wanted.
It`s the complete lack of communication that is the most frustrating.Anyway, enough: if the goods eventually come I`ll post it.

Add Axminster Tools to that list, as they have very good stocks including some hard to find items, and are 100% reliable. I have used them several times.

Well noted. There are many established tool retailers like Axminster who now have interactive web site selling their wares. They keep stock and can get what they don't have pretty quickly. The questions to ask are: are you a web only retailer? and, do you have my item in your stock or will it come from your supplier?

I posted that number yesterday, but the OP doesn't seem to be interested in direct action.

I did ring a couple of times with no answer. But have answered now 10.30 am Sunday 5th.
A Mr Les Sparks answered (father and now a director).Gave me a lot of apologies citing all the problems they have had;financial, bad debts (murder!!).Bloody hell almost felt sorry for him!
Couldn`t understand why Elliot hadn`t replied to my e-mails; and I said not only to me,seems to be a common trait.I gave him order no. and he said a whole lot of stuff went out on Friday, mine maybe among them.
Promised to get back to me tomorrow(monday). He was a quiet, nicely spoken guy, not arsy/bolshy at all.
Genuine? who knows, will wait and see.

Also add CPC the retail side of Farnell. Good service, fast delivery and very keen pricing

+1 on www.CPC.co.uk , I work with a bunch of Engineers, so we probably order once a fortnight or so and get free next day delivery >95% of the time. Not much particularly boaty but really good with tools , PC & A/V stuff.

No connection etc, just a well served customer over the last 12 years.
