Just a word of warning to you all.

I just advertised a boom on ebay and it sold for £62.

Fair enough that's how much it made.

But then ebay charged me £21.90 for selling it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A 33% charge amounts to highway robbery in my book so no longer will I be using them and if you are thinking of doing so I highly recommend that you establish before hand how much you will be charged.

You need to query this with Ebay. Their final value fee table is <A target="_blank" HREF=http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/fees.html>here</A>. There will be a listing fee as well, but you will have been told how much that would be when you listed your item.

I sell on e bay and have never paid charges anywhere near that.

You can knock up higher charges by adding more photos, putting all the bells and whistles on the advert and setting a high reserve; there can also be a Paypal fee if you use them for payment, but you must have gone some to reach a total charge like that. I would be interested to see the break down of your fees.

Not sure of the details, but it is always worth reading the details of the charges before you list the items. For example some categories charge more than others, and things like setting a reserve can alter the cost too.

I seem to recall when they moved boating bits from "Sport" to "Cars" they in effect increased the cost because they can charge more in that category.

If you set a reserve price on it then there is a charge for that, but the charge is then refunded when the sale is completed. If that is the case you may find it is reduced later.

Hi

I think you have posted it in the boat section under cars etc. This is teh same as selling a car and attracts a premium. You need to sell under automotive accessories where there is no automatic £15 fee as for cars. I did the same thing until I found out where I should have listed the parts.

I did and you are right but it doesn't stop me feeling really cross about it though. It's not the £15 it's the principle !
