A post on Motor Chat reminds me of the time was I was in Chichester marina and my first winter I left the yacht in. Being keen I would regularly go down and run the engine 'under load'. Only to find that the 'prop wash' had dig the silt out and wash it back forming a 'sand-bar' behind the boat, which I duly ran aground on, if the water was low in the marina in the spring.
