Many thanks to the Scottish forum members that gave some great advice during my recent visit to Scotland, including, AlistairR, Divemaster1, and robMc.

Pictured onboard Navigator at Peterhead Marina. I'm hoping next time the skipper might need another crew member for a trip over to the west coast?

Cheers gentlemen.

I think I might of made the pic. too wide........ my first attempt, sorry about that. Apparently too late to change it.

Have had a couple of PM's from local Scot's folk about catching up next time over, will most certainly do that.
The same courtesy will be shown from this end, if any forum members who find their way to the great southern land (Mobo or Yachtie), only to pleased to catch up.

Do the Scots forum guys ever get together with their boats for a rendezvous?

Something to think about, maybe?

Nice to meet you ... and you'll be welcome onboard any time....

Not that easy to meet as there are few of us and a long coastline ..., but I do keep a lookout though during our journeys and in a couple of weeks we're off to NW Scotland, so will keep a lookout again...

I reckon there would be quite a few moored up in those beautiful sea lochs out west. That has to be up there as some of the most stunning cruising grounds on the planet!

Maybe even a 'Gathering of the Clans' event somewhere between the Clyde estuary and Fort William?

The English and Welsh seem to organise some good events.

Would be nice to arrange such an event, but the challenge is the concentration of forum members in Scotland .... not sure how many we have... (two in my marina)... the others are spread from the Forth to the Clyde I'd guess...

A forum meet would be fun.... but a venue on the West Coast would mean an approx 200 NM journey for us + return = 400 NM which I'd guess is a bit far for a week-end ... even for the most hardy of boaters you find "doon suth".

Another thing is that some of the most enjoyable of things you find on the West coast of Scotland, is the remoteness and peace you find with the vast open areas and Sea Lochs .... and when you go there, you are more likely to seek quiet, and scenic anchorages, not Marinas...

Here is a typical boating scene on the busy West coast at the end of July last year .... no forum members in sight .... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Understand the distance thing Alf, especially for East-coasters, maybe a bit of forward planning for next season?

Anyway I envy your upcoming cruise mate, enjoy!
