Warm air hose suggestions please

I need to replace the warm air hose on my Eberspacher. It's the metallic concertina kind (aluminium ?), black on the outside. Clamps onto the heater unit, then connects into a rubber hose just before the outlets. Have tried a specialist hose supplier and several auto part shops and no one had any of the metallic kind, though they all told me it should be freely available. Any suggestions please, suppliers or alternatives. It's 60 mm id. I don't want to pay fancy Eber prices if I can help it.

You could crawl through 600mm! I suspect you mean 60mm.

I seem to remember that a few weeks ago on this forum, someone mentioned a much cheaper source of suitable ducting. Try a forum search.

Wingdiver ( ECF ) had a supplier for good quality hose @ reasonable cost

I did this, gave up and bought eber ducting... The mysterious 50p a metre stuff often claimed on here either doesn't exist or the people who suggest going to hose supplier last did this in 1956 when real hardware stores where people know their product last existed :rolleyes:
 
eberspacher ducting 60mm

LeonF - I have some of that stuff in my cellar - probably about 3m but I haven't unrolled it to see lately. It's new and left over from an Eberspacher Airtronic installation I did on a previous boat. Interested? PM me, if you are, and we could negotiate something mutually advantageous perhaps? Mike
 
I recently used 2 ply silicone heating ducting and posted on here about it.
I would never buy the Eberspacher stuff again. It is too vulnerable to water.

We've used industry standard stuff from Screwfix - problem is that it is about 100mm ID and as it's insulated its nearer 130mm OD ... but as we're going through the whole boat and it cost £45 for 10m its much better value for money IMHO!
I do need a short length for the air intake and don't want to go for such a big diameter ... so might have a look at the links above for it.

That looks identical to the stuff I used for my Eber ducting - works a treat and NOT easily crushed even when "stretched" - I have had this stuff in service for over 5 years with no problems - only thing I did was wrapped it in unsulation to maintain the heat - (4m run). FWIW I checked the temperature of the air coming out of the Eber (~ 125°C) so I am a little wary of using "rubber" ducting. Anyway £15 for 4m it is cheap enough and seems to have stood the test of time.
 
Have ordered it from E-bay... just as a matter of interest, what insulation did you use ? I used some wadding from an airconditioning unit as a chafe preventer on the previous ducting, and though it never caused problems, it did slightly melt and fuse to the ducting.
 
Thanks UKMCTC and everyone else who replied. UK the site looks interesting with nice schematics. I've ordered the ducting that Moody Sabre found on E-bay.. lets hope it does the trick.

I've got standard Eberspacher pipework, lagged with foil-backed bubble wrap from B&Q for the most part, cut up strips from an old fire blanket for the bit after the heating unit itself. It seems to be up to the job and the air coming into the cabin is noticeably warmer...
