On Sunday there was the sound of gunfire/explosions for most of the day. Anyone have any idea what is was? Seemed to go on for far too long for a battle re-enactment, and in January too.

Or was it a bird scarer gone berserk?

Sorry, it was me negotiating the 2009-2010 berthing costs with the MDL management. - We had a bit of a stand-off! Boats hooks at 20 yards, but all sorted now!

(Actually got no idea as I wasn't there!, but will be Saturday - I will ask cause I'm nosey!)

It was probably someone having a good day at the pigeons, they are partial to feeding on oilseed rape and can destroy a crop in days, probably fields of the stuff round there.

We walk the dog along the opposite shore when the tide is right and usually hear a mixture of bangs. The shotgun bangs I recognize, but am puzzled by the occasional powerful, low, crump. Perhaps someone picked up a cheap surplus 105mm off eBay

There are a couple of OSR fields between the marina and Pinmill, but are very forward (unusual for this year!) so maybe a few pigeons about.

There is also a driven shoot opposite on the north bank.
