Boat handling entrants for the Bray CC annual Boat handling compo 2010, held at beautiful Bray Marina, this coming Saturday!

C'mon guys, it's a cinch.

All you need to do is strut your stuff as Skipper, ensure your crew carry out their normal duties in accordance with your clear verbal instructions, and you're in with a chance of enjoying the glory!

You need to be current Bray members, but hell, there is no better Club on the thames today is there?!

No BCC member is going to escape the wrath of No Regrets this time, not the newly formed 'Bray Broom Massive'! (TM)

If you don't enter, we will hunt you down...

Come up to Henley if you think your hard enough!!!!

Bray is miles away, taking 5 X nine year olds for a birthday BBQ so plenty of crew..

Good luck...

Oh yes, I forgot how far Bray was in your ickle Bwoom Cwown...

FFS Man, it's got more power in it's Starter motor than my entire vessel!

"beautiful Bray Marina....If you don't enter, we will hunt you down..."

Unfortunately due to my war wound and the fact its looks a bit inclement at the weekend,we will be unable to attend !!!!!

Anyway flying my clubs "Blue" among all those "Reds" might look (heaven forbid) a bit like showing off. :)

Nice to see the dedication among you hardened mariners...

Apollo's mission: Harleyford lock cut and back.

Oldgit: Shrapnel stops play...

DOH!

Nah, plenty of cruising association blues on the Thames. Not one of them can handle their boat properly.
It's like a warning to give a wide berth....

Well, I regret that I will be unable to participate on Saturday as a) Legacy is out of the water enjoying a much needed facelift and b) I myself will be presiding over Inter Club Finals Day for the 50+ photographic clubs in Surrey.

I wish you all an enjoyable day - the forecast suggests much nicer conditions than those we enjoyed (?????) at the TVR.

PS come on guys - try and give NR some real competition :D

A most scurrilous accusation about the Thames Taliban

"plenty of cruising association blues on the Thames."

Are the CA still giving them away with cornflake packets or do you axshully have to undertake the challenging task of having to able to sign a CA membership cheque to get one nowadays? :):):)

The short answer is "YES" they have cheapened their Ensign to such a stage where people seeing them regard them as worthless dish rags. The C.A. do not even check that they are issued to craft who comply with the technical requirements.
40 years ago the C.A. was the place where one could meet hairy rumped sailors who had sailed the world upside down through wind, rain, fog and snow and anything else the world could toss at them. I remember being the guest of (famous name) at one of their dinners and feeling the urge to collect autographs. Now it's just a place for Wannabees who haven't earned a Blue but want one anyway.

Well, I DON'T want a Blue .......... I want a White !!!! :D

(Don't see many of THEM on the non-tidal Thames ! )

Mind you, I do feel quite at home with my Red Ensign. It was very meaningful for the first ten years or so of my working career and in a funny way I feel 'entitled' to use it.

Technically the RED is the senior ensign. The WHITE is only issued to members of The Royal Yacht Squadron and the likes of you and I being invited to join. . . well! We have more chance of winning the Lottery.
