My boat is permanently in the Canal du Midi, about half way between Carcassonne and the sea.
The UK insurers have asked for a Full out of water survey report before renewing my Policy next April.
A canal cruise to the coast, where I can find a yard and a surveyor, is not appealing at this time of year. I would also like to find a (probably British) surveyor, who is used to making surveys just for insurance purposes, rather than something resembling an illustrated sales brochure which the last French one produced. In France, a survey seems to be more of a valuation and presentation for sale than a simple factual report on condition.
I can possibly get the boat hauled out at one of the nearby canal hire bases, but all the surveyors seem to be based far away on the coast, so I then have the problem of finding one who can/will travel here at a reasonable cost.
Does anyone know of a qualified Marine Surveyor based somewhere near here, please?
