Hi,

I've been creating an online Macwester photobank ( http://macwester.wordpress.com/macwester-photo-bank/ ), which is intended to become a snap-shot of Macwesters that are out there, or were out there at some stage. I'm making progress, but don't have any photos of a: Kelpie, Creeler, Pelagian, or a Hebridean.

If you have Macwester photos from the past or present that you hold copyright over (i.e. you photographed) and you would be happy to make these widely available, please send these to me for inclusion. Please send no more than five interior and/or exterior images per example to macwesterphotos [at] yahoo.com.

If you know/remember them, please include:

Boat name

Model

Location [no precise locations; region, nation, or sea only]

Date [year]

As this is a non-commercial hobby-based project, it may take some time to include images ...and I cannot guarantee inclusion of all images and links sent.

Thanks for reading, and thanks to all of those who contribute.

Captain Fantastic: Thanks; it's taking shape. Still got a few holes, but it'll take time. Thanks once again for your contribution.

Hi Dave.

I have been looking at different Macwesters advertised for sale ever since I bought my "30" in 2002, sold in 2007. I have never ever seen a Pelagian advertised...................until yesterday.

Here is the link

http://www.boatshop24.co.uk/MzY5MzQ4Nn5CUkNKMDE=-Macwester_Pelagian.html

I am looking to buy another boat this winter and I might well go and have a look at this Pelagian, but cannot do so for a couple of weeks. I am a bit warey of having two big engines in such a confined space, but I like the idea of motoring at ten knotts.

MrCramp: Thank you very much for the 'heads-up' and sending over the link. She looks pretty tidy inside from what I can see. There are slightly bigger photos on the Broom website [general link here http://www.broomboats.com/boat-brokerage-norfolk.html], but I can't send you a link to the exact page because their web hosting isn't set-up as good as it could be.

If Broom themselves have carried out a major restoration, then I'd expect her to be in very good condition ...and she may be reasonably well priced at £34,000. Can't comment on any technical problems with her two engines, but the plus side must be that if one engine fails, there's still another in reserve.

If you do go to view her ...please take some photos.

Good luck!

The Lazy Kipper: The beam on the 32ft Malin and Wight is 9'5 ...I think the 33ft Pelagian was very similar so probably somewhere between 9'5 and 10ft.

On their website, Broom have her beam listed as 9'6, and that seems to stack up.

Thanks, i couldn't see it on the first link but the Broom site has it. Isn't that very narrow for a 33' cruiser? I'm sure the Macwester 28 we owned also had a beam of 9' 6".

Sitting on my 9'5 beam malin right now. Tons more space in here than the new Hanse 325 that we viewed at the Scottish Boat Show last weekend. The Malins aft cabin may taper at the stern, but its both a nicer place to be and bigger than the Hanse 325's glorified pilot berth/dungeon. Not saying my Malin's better, just saying it compares well with modern boats when it comes to space. 4give spelling/grammar etc; using my mobile.

Yesterday I was in San Francisco Bay watching the yachts going in and out and there was a yacht that looked like a Macwester, i could not get close enough to confirm it. If it was indeed a Macwester, then it has travelled long way.

Captain Fantastic: If it was a Mac, then indeed it was a long way from home. Not even sure how I'd get to the West coast of the US from the UK - probably via the Panama Canal I guess.

San-Fran huh? Lucky you! I am tad concerned though ...perhaps you should get yourself checked-over by a medic. You're in San Francisco, and you're still checking into the PBO forum!! :)

CaptainFantastic: Welcome home! I hope you had a great time over there.

The Macwester Photobank is growing, however contributions have tailed-off a little. I guess that's to be expected. It's a long term project anyhoo.

On the plus side, Mr J Bradshaw from the MOA dug out a Kelpie photo (thanks again), so that's now been uploaded. I also have my fingers crossed that MrCramp might send over some photos of the Macwester Pelagian he may go to view at Broom.

For the moment though, there's still no Pelagian, Hebridean, or Creelers ...and of course there's still room for more examples of all the other models.

Best wishes...

Good luck with your new boat. I did look at the advert and rang the broker but got someone who knew nowt!! Were both the engines new, or reconditioned recently?

Drumblair; well done! She has a fantastic interior, and as I understand it two new engines. I hope the journey goes well. Best of luck!
