I posted on the wanted forum for a Furuno 15" Monitor & received a reply (PM) recently with an email address.
On further research it transpires that the 'seller' emailed me photos from Google Images & I'm pretty certain it was all a scam.
Just a warning to others to be careful.

Thanks for the warning. Sadly, this is all too common. It's easy on Ebay to post an advert for a car (for example) with pictures taken from another website. It's also all too easy to open a bank account with fake details to receive money from hapless buyers. Ebay, banks and the police also don't seem too interested in fraud. It's easy money for criminals. I suspect that your case illustrates that some enterprising crims are moving to other sources of 'customers'.

If they sent you a PM then they must have registered an account on here, is it a regular poster or a new poster?
did you report what happened to the mods?
if it is true then it seems a shame, most people are ok to deal with, i have bought and sold in the past with no problems at all, be curious to see what happens.

It might or might not not be a scam.
Sometimes generic images look better than anything you can take yourself, but I'd expect a picture of the item itself as well.

The PM was sent to me by a new member who said he'd bought some stuff from the seller & proceeded to give me the seller's email.
I contacted the seller on the email & initially got 2x photos & then some more. They were all lifted from a US used equipment seller's website.
It really is a shame as like lots of us I've bought a few items from members previously & a certain amount of trust is required and expected.

It also happened me on the Wanted forum last week. I was looking for an item and I was PMed by a member saying that another member had the item for sale and to email them on an email address. They said this member had a few items recently advertised. I was suspicious so I replied asking for the link. No reply. I was very suspicious so I reported it.

In the past have initially used a generic photo purloined from a website, simply because could not be bothered to go to the boat to take a photo of the item concerned.
However when buying would be very suspicious of buying anything of any value outside of UK .

I was contacted last week via PM from a user who had placed a wanted ad. My name had been suggested by a new user as having what he was looking for. It all smelt rather fishy so I PMd him back advising caution.

Couldn't see where the gain was for the scammer, must be missing something.
