Want to work at Barcelona Boat Show (November 6th - 14th 2004)

Are you fluent in Spannish / English? If so then we need you!

Mailspeed Marine will be exhibiting at this years forthcoming Barcelona Boat show. We are seeking Spanish translators to work with our Boat show staff on the stand at the Barcelona Boat Show. You will preferably have a knowledge of marine products also but this is not essential! If you think you could help us, and would like to work the Barcelona show then please email Leighton King via leighton@mailspeedmarine.com.

Told my grandaughter about this post so that she might get some practical experience for her higher exams in a few weeks and posibbly get paid as well. She speaks fluent Spanish but could do with some 'business talk' experience. Suggested she and her mum both go if accepted by Mail Speed and I'd give them some 'shopping' money to amuse them while there. Suggested it to her school and a resounding NO and reminded of penalties of being off school during term for no good reason. No good reason, jeez. This bloody country infuriates me sometimes. How much more practical can working on a Boat Show Stand IN Spain get when practising the chosen language.

I worked for Mailspeed Marine at LBS earlier this year.

The staff and management seemed friendly and efficient. The staff had varying degrees of knowledge and sailing experience and to be honest you don't need to know much about sailing to sell deck shoes or torches! Anything you didn't know you pass the customer on to a more senior member of staff.

However, you will be working long hours and doing lots of lifting and shifting so forget the shopping money unless you want to stay on a few days after the boat show!

Upside is you will get staff discount so if your grandaughter goes give her a shopping list and have it delivered back in England so you'll avoid Customs regulations.

As for the school, if your grandaughter goes sick for two weeks she'll get more language experience and real life work experience then she ever would in school.....

PS. Hiya Leighton! Hiya Buster!
