I already have two boats and now want another one. I have a 19 foot sports cruiser that we can stay on and a 17 foot bowrider speed boats for fun. The issue is that with these boats and where I launch I need 2 people to launch and recover. I am soon to retire having been made redundant and fancy a little cheap economical rib that I can operate completely on my own as many of you will know it is not always easy to get a crew member to go boating with you and her indoors sometimes wants to do interesting things like sit in the garden :) on lovely weekends ideal for boating.

I was looking at a small Rib with centre console with say a 25 hp outboard. I was wondering if people with experience of this sort of boat could help me with the size of rib that can easily be managed on a slipway all on your own.

Regards

something to replace the 3 needs that does all the jobs in hand?? perhaps something you can leave on dry stack and just call when you want it and let others do the work for you?

Dry stack, Dry Stack are you mad .............. :) I don't pay others to do what I can do ......my poor old Dad would turn in his grave........ Anyway where I live the concept of dry stack has not reached us. It is all mud rough concrete and toothless seafarers

You could launch and recover a jetski single handed very easily which would be good for a quick blast.. :)

I did not mention that I already have one of those (Jetski) and not that keen. I would also use the little rib as a tender to our sports cruiser

Ha ha ha ... was just a suggestion ...

I done skis for years and in my opinion any thing can be a pain single handed. Soon as there is a bit of wind or chop trying to winch while trying to hold it steady on the trailer can be hard alone..

I can recommend an old Avon SR4, cheap and fun, perfect for single handed use or with two people. Good seakeeping too, nice deep v hull. Sell the bow rider, keep the sports cruiser, the Searider should give you plenty of fun!

I might get the SR4 but there is no way I am selling the bowrider. Even if I do have 2 of them :)

Well I have found what I want and the best bit was it was only 8 miles away from my House. A Valiant D340 With a Mariner 15 HP 4 stroke. Hopefully can serve as a tender to my Sports Cruiser and also a fun Zip around. No power tilt and trim etc and pull start so should be simple to use and low maintenance.

Quite pleased with her I am. Now I just need a name

Went out in her for the first time today and quite pleased but as always wanted a little more speed. I am getting 19 knots on the 15 hp which is quite nice on such a small tender. I wonder what it would go like with a 25 hp on her. Also power tilt and trim would be nice
