Hi Everyone,

I have harboured the desire to be a Flot Hostie for 15 years now (since I was 13), and have decided to take the plunge and apply for next season. I'll be selling the car, jacking the job in (never liked it that much anyway!) and following my dream (I hope!).

Are there any ex hostie's out there? I'd really appreciate a view from someone who has been part of a Lead Crew in any respect.

I've done 15 Flots and spent time on lead boats to get their perspective on things, so I'm well aware that it's not a paid holiday and can be incredibly demanding at times.

Anyone out there who could enlighten me a bit more?? I knoe everyone's experiences will be different, I'm just looking for any views I can come across.

Thanks, and hope to hear from someone!!

opps, they don't have a forum. But register anyway, it's free.

Things have changed a lot from when I was a host . . .

The best information you'll get is from Neilson Jobs . Read through all aspects of the 'jobs' menu, then decide whether to apply on line. You're a bit late for this year . . .

When you've done that, read through Sunsail HR in the same way.

Once you know what the job involves, ring up Sailing Holidays Ltd and ask what they've got.

Report back to tell us which you think may look after their staff better . . . then we'll know who to book with.

I did 39 Flotillas, one season as an Engineer and two as Skipper, best three years of my life. Plenty of work and plenty of play.
Get in touch with all the flotilla companies, CV with photo etc.

Thanks. How did you get on when you stopped being Lead Crew for a living and came back to 'the real world'? It scares me slightyl that I'll have no home, no car and no job when (and if) I come back !

Surely a few of the newbees don't work out and there us be some sickness.

Probably its difficult to free yourself for this year but if you were available and a vacancy arose mid season I would assume they would be desparate.
