Not sure if I'm in the right forum for this, but here goes...
I've seen a yacht I'd like to buy and Mrs H has tasked me with costing the project.
I'd like to fund the purchase using someone else's money (I don't have any!).
Anyone know of a Marine Mortgage lender that is truly 'international'? I was bounced by Bank of Scotland because I am currently not resident in UK (Living and working but-not-as-yet-sailing in Greece).
Anyone have a similar problem?.... and solved it?
Any help appreciated...
Regards to all,

I've sent you a Private message but after further thought I've just remembered that HSBC in Athens also do a lot of marine Mortgages.

Generally the purchase and paying for the boat is a amall part of the costs and problems of boat ownership.
The biggest problem is in deciding accurately if you can use a boat and if so will you use it enough to justify sacrificing other things to afford it. Many people with total dedication can live on their boat and on a small income while to run a household and family and a large boat can be very expensive.
So a smaller boat may lead you into a conclusion as to whether you can use a boat or not with less cost. It is however a catch 22 that a smaller boat may not appeal to SWMBO while a bigger one may be more aceptable. A bigger boat may be more expensive or enormously demanding in maintenance energy (or both).

I am inclined to suggest if you can't afford the purchase cost then you will have trouble meeting all the other costs. (and this follows for large or small) good luck anyway and don't let me put you off. olewill
