I've currently just got a regular Raymarine depth sounder at present on the boat but would find it fascinating and entertaining to 'see' a bit more of what's underneath - not 'cause I want to find some fish, but more because I'm nosey and curious, so I'm now looking for some kind of fishfinder / sonar / scanner gadget.
The Lowrance Structure Scan looks pretty amazing (downscan in particular - see pic below), and seems to be leagues in front of anything else as far as looking realistic. The trouble is that I have Raymarine E series plotters on the boat and don't plan to change. It would seem a waste to have both Raymarine and Lowrance Plotters on board (the structure scan is only compatible with Lowrance's latest HDS plotters I believe), so does anyone have any other ideas (apart from me going diving!) and maybe there're better options out there that I've totally missed?
I think Tim Bartlett is doing some sort of a review of structurescan in Dec MBY, but as the boat's out of the water in November, I'm hoping to fit something then.
