I have a Wallas 1600 bulkhead mounted cabin heater and am looking for general information and possible sourcing of spare parts for this out of date model. The printed circuit board is damaged and I am looking for a replacement or spare. (I have a circuit diagram of the board.)

Can anyone help or have had any previous experience of this model?

I don't know anything about Wallas heaters, but I was searching the web yesterday looking for what alternatives there might be to an Eberspaecher and discovered this website.

www.wallas.fi

You can click on the English link at the top right if your Finnish is as bad as mine.

Hello - I have a Wallas, same vintage, and have always found good support (spares etc) from www.kuranda.co.uk

Good luck!

Yes, Kuranda are the main people these days. The (probably) bad news is that when a similar question on these early heaters were brought up on another thread a year or three ago (by someone also wanting a new circuit board IIRC) none were now available.

I very much hope this isn't the case, as I too have the bulkhead mounted 1600 and, now in its 25th year, it is still working beautifully!! It would be good know that this sort of spare was still available. Touching wood as I type by the way!

Crimson2, I and others no doubt, would be grateful if you would put an update thread on the Forum letting us know how you get on in your quest. It might be worthwhile getting an electronics whizz to see if they could identify and replace any defective component. Maybe Kuranda could help with advice on this aspect as this problem must be getting fairly common nowadays.

Hi Crimson2,

I note that you have a circuit diagram of the PCB for the 1600, and wonder whether you could send me a copy. In the event that the pcb goes wrong on my heater, I'd like to be able to do what I suggested in my earlier post, and have an electronics type have a go at repairing it.

If you can help with this, please post on here and I'll PM (private message) you with contact details.

Regards

Jerry

Though it is best to use an electronic expert, the most common parts that fail on circuit boards are solder joints and capacitors. Sometimes boards come back to life after just changing all the capacitors.
